Context Gallery, jewels and contemporary objects

Elsa Inzunza

My pieces are like small projects, which entail a process of design and construction. It is like developing architecture at a small scale. The pieces are to have a structure, be light, comfortable and durable, and have meaning for the person who wears them. I search for inspiration in the richness of the crafts and landscape of Mexico, without neglecting Mediterranean culture.

(México, 1967). She lives and works in Barcelona. She studied Architecture with a specialty in Restoration of Historic Monuments. She arrived in Barcelona in 1995 to complete Doctoral studies at l’Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona - l’Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She began to enter the world of jewelry in a self-taught manner, and gradually, in the free time that work and family allow, learned the trade in arts and crafts workshops in Barcelona and Mexico City. She has become skillful in different techniques of contemporary jewelry and in projects at Taller Perill in Barcelona, attending monographic courses and workshops, which allow her to experiment and research with new materials and abundant color. She finds in jewelry a medium of expression, which has opened new possibilities for creation.
